Remembering Karl Lagerfeld

Chanel put together snow-covered runway to showcase Lagerfeld's last collection. This was on the 5th March at the Grand Palais in Paris.
The show began with a minute of silence and a recording of Lagerfeld followed.
Cara Delavigne then opened the show strutting out of the Chalet Gardenia wearing a hounds-tooth coat over a tweed jumpsuit. Penelope Crus, who has been an ambassador for Chanel for years made a surprise appearance.
With Lagerfeld being known for his over -the-top shows, of course this one was a wintery, snow-filled wonderland with mountains and swiss chalets.
The backdrop was painted blue and there were several chalets making the set transform into a small Tyrolean village. With smoke coming from the chimneys and snow settling on the benches, it would have really felt like a realistic magical moment.
Matching the chalet, snow scene theme, the models outfits were tailored to fit this wintery setting. The theme was chalet chic and the mood was the power-dressing that Lagerfeld perfected back in the 80's. Throughout there were twinsets that were Alpine-themed intarsia design, sheepskin moonboots, ski goggle sunglasses and sporty tweed jackets that zipped all the way up to the chin. Penelope Cruz then ended the show with a feather and Chiffon dress and a single white rose in her hand.
In my opinion I feel that this was the best way to remember Karl Lagerfeld but also to celebrate his life and his achievements. With such a pretty scene and designs put together in a way that really showed hat Lagerfeld was about was just powerful and will always be remembered.
