Neon Trend

Spring summer 2019 definitely saw some retro trends re-emerge. It brought back fashion from the 80’s where people would wear tie dye shorts and shoulder padded power suits. It’s one trend that has definitely taken over our insta feeds.
Fluorescents hit the micro-trend rank because of the Kardashians in early 2018, it then hit the runways in New York, London, Milan and Paris. The most popular colours were lime green, bright yellow, hot pink and a burning orange.
In terms of streetwear, the catwalk designs were either subtle or right in your face. Designers such as Jeremy Scott Off White and House of Holland definitely pulled this familiar trend off, HoH with their bold collections of three-piece tracksuits, Virgil Alboh with his combination of neon and snakeskin (weirdly I love and definitely my favourite!) and Moschino with its cartoon graphic and artsy designs.
For evening wear, Armani showcased acid green high shine suits a bit like the material of fluorescent work jackets. Julian MacDonald put bright orange neon on to cut out dresses and Ashish combined these wild colours with sequins making the trend even more extra.
More affordable high street brands such as Missguided Pretty Little Thing, Boohoo and Topshop have also jumped on the band wagon with this 80’s trend. Here are a couple of things I’m loving...

As I mentioned before, I am absolutely loving this neon and snake print combination and is definitely something I would consider wearing.
This top is from Missguided is something more causal I would wear with joggers or jeans maybe to just nip out. It is quite striking but however subtle in a way if paired with the right thing so its not too in your face.
The burning orangey colour I am loving as well because these sort of colours excite me for summer with them being warm toned.
This little bum bag is again from Missguided and I think it would be perfect for a festival, however you’d probably see about 100 different people with the same bag!
Now this I absolutely LOVE! I would wear this cute little jumper from Topshop everyday if I could. Again, something you can just throw on and still look like you’re making an effort.
It's so strange that I would own something like this back in the 00’s and absolutely HATE this and would much rather wear black :/ (emo phase).
