Missguided X Playboy

Missguided have recently collaborated with men's magazine 'Playboy'. Some are obsessed whilst others can't bare it. The collection consists of hoodies, jogging bottoms, t-shirts, bodysuits, bags and dresses.
Personally, I don't think it's the best collaboration Missguided's ever done as I think both the brands aim to convey different messages and ideas to their consumers. Both have different target audiences so I just feel they clash way too much. Missguided aim their items and advertising at girls from their teens to late 20's, whereas Playboy's audience is pretty much men and women that want to appeal to men.
You could argue that this collaboration was unexpected but in a way expected. With the brands being very different it would be hard to imagine the two together. However, last generations trends and popular brands always have a way of regurgitating their collections and ideas by clinging on to brands that are doing well, which makes it expected.
When you think of Missguided you think girly, teenage, fun, whereas Playboy you think of nude women in magazines plastered in surgery. Playboy is definitely too year 8 for me as all the girls thought it was trendy to where a bag covered in rabbit heads??? promoting something that was way to old for them at the time.
Although not all the collection is visually revolting, you can't make a brand look good by sticking diamantes down the side of a pair of joggers. In my opinion, some of the clothes are definitely wearable as they aimed to go mostly for loungewear, however wearing it out of the house is a different story.
Overall, I absolutely love Missguided, the clothes they sell and the trends they follow, however this was definitely a bad move collabing with Playboy as some people may argue that it has brought Missguided's reputation down from the standard it once was. However they must be doing something right as the collection sold out in record time? Who knows?
