Recently I've been watching a series called Black Mirror on Netflix. It is all about future technology that we would only think was possible in heads.

An episode that really stood out to me and that I really found quite interesting was one called 'Nosedive' directed by Joe Wright. New eye-tech and mobile devices were being used to give others a rating out of 5 there online and real life interactions. A persons rating would then affect their socioeconomic status and whether the public liked them or not. The girl name Lacie who is the main character tries to gain likes by going out of her way and over the top which eventually leads her to get stressed out and her rating goes down.

I felt this episode really had a meaning to it because it reflects everyday life, if anything it is a warning sign as to what life could be like in 10 years time. It just shows the kind of things people will do to be accepted in society and even if people don't give electronic ratings they definitely do in their own heads and this is all because of Instagram and social media.

Will we eventually end up like this? Being nice to everybody just to gain a 5 star rating so you can walk out in public without being disliked?
